Who can participate
Eligibility criteria
To submit a declaration and be considered for the program you must meet all of the following conditions:
- You hold a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL).
- You possess eligible firearms that were prohibited in May 2020, December 2024 or March 2025 and were acquired prior to their relevant prohibition date.
- You agree to the program's terms and conditions, privacy and consent agreements when creating your account in the online portal.
If you live in Saskatchewan or Alberta, please consult your provincial government for any additional laws or regulations that may affect your participation in the program. Collection appointments and options may vary by region and must comply with all applicable provincial laws.
While participating in the program is voluntary, compliance with the law is not. Individual firearm owners must safely dispose of or permanently deactivate their assault-style firearms before the amnesty period ends on October 30, 2026, or risk criminal liability for the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm.
Executors of estates with prohibited firearms
See how to participate in the program if you are an executor of an estate with eligible, prohibited firearms.
