Federal Student Work Experience Program 2017 (FSWEP) (17-03)

2017-01-31

As part of our focus on modernizing staffing and recruitment, a number of significant improvements have been made to the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP). These changes are targeted at improving the user experience for students applying to the program.

As of January 31, 2017, students will apply to FSWEP's Ongoing Student Recruitment Inventory inventory through a simplified application process and benefit from:

  • No blackout period! FSWEP will accept student applications all year round;
  • No need to reapply every year; and
  • Learning about FSWEP opportunities throughout the year as they are promoted on our Web page and various Government of Canada social media channels.

There are also key benefits for managers. As of March 1, 2017, hiring managers will be able to take advantage of:

  • Increased capability to match students to manager's request;
  • Year-round access to the inventory;
  • Re-hiring students without submitting a request to the PSC; and
  • Set the duration of the student's employment.
