LHHR: Public Service-Wide Pools (18-07)
The Public Service Commission is changing its approach to public service-wide pools to better respond to the Government of Canada’s recruitment needs. Until now, we generally created and administered these pools to provide departments with partially or fully assessed entry-level candidates. Moving forward, we’ll focus on targeting specific gaps related to employment equity and official language minority groups, as well as supporting functional communities in their recruitment needs. To accomplish this, we’ll create targeted pools by further assessing candidates from our existing programs, including the Post-Secondary Recruitment and Recruitment of Policy Leaders inventories.
We’re adopting a more integrated approach to recruitment by helping departments to better define their needs, establish appropriate staffing strategies, target outreach and match the right candidates to the right jobs. This end-to-end approach will allow for more coordinated outreach, improve candidates’ experience by reducing the need for them to apply to several recruitment programs, and also reduce time to staff.
For entry-level CR and AS staffing needs, you can continue to access departmental pools posted on GCconnex’s Central Repository of Active Federal Public Service Pools. Departments also have access to a Post-Secondary Recruitment inventory that includes candidates with a college degree in an administrative field.
