Readout: Disability Advisory Committee Meeting – April 14, 2021
The Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) met virtually on April 14, 2021. It was the first meeting of the Committee since the publishing of their 2nd annual report.
The meeting opened with a video from the Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier, followed by remarks from Parliamentary Secretary Francesco Sorbara and Commissioner Bob Hamilton. They thanked Committee members for their work and ongoing commitment to persons with disabilities and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)’s appreciation for the work that the Committee does on behalf of persons with disabilities and their families. They also noted the significant progress that has been made to improve access to various tax measures.
During the meeting, representatives from CRA provided updates on various initiatives related to the Committee’s recommendations: the Navigator, the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) digital application, the Form T2201 re-design, and the DTC web optimization. The Committee was also provided with feedback and comments regarding the Committee’s 2nd annual report.
The Committee also had a discussion on their work plan for 2021, including the future work of the Committee and the frequency and format of future reporting.
The Committee also took the opportunity to examine updated DTC data that provides information from 2011 to 2018 about gender, age, and province or territory of residence of DTC applicants.
During the meeting, the Committee was provided with an update on the client experience survey Q3 results and analysis.
