The 2000-2001 to 2002-2003 Corporate Business Plan marks a new beginning for our organization. Formerly Revenue Canada, we are now the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). Being an agency places us in a better position to design ways of doing our business that will significantly improve the services we provide. While we still report to Parliament through the Minister of National Revenue, we also now have a Board of Management to bring a private sector perspective to the management of the CCRA.

Our mission remains to promote compliance with Canadian tax and customs legislation, through a balanced program of quality service and responsible enforcement. However, as an agency, we have the flexibility to be more innovative and use new technologies to provide Canadians with processes that are fair, less complex, and less time consuming. Internally, the CCRA has given us the opportunity to implement a new human resources regime aimed at ensuring faster and more efficient transactions and a workforce equipped for the challenges ahead.

To maintain the confidence of Canadians, as well as the engagement and support of our staff, we must minimize uncertainty and be very clear about our priorities. This brief overview of our Corporate Business Plan sets out the goals, objectives, and strategies which will allow us to reach the highest standard of excellence in client service and truly be an employer of choice.
