NOA in tax software for professional tax preparers
This service allows filers to view the notice of assessment (NOA) or notice of reassessment (NOR) in certified tax preparation software, right after the return has been received and processed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Viewing the NOA in tax software
To use this service, you must:
- Be a certified electronic filer
- Be registered for a CRA account and have access to Represent a Client
- Have a RepID, GroupID, or business number
- Use an EFILE-certified software
Your client must:
- Authorize you for online access (RepID, GroupID, or business number) to their CRA tax information, using one of the following methods:
- Directly in My Account
- By confirming in My Account the authorization request you submitted in Represent a Client
- By providing you with information from their notice of assessment, from a return processed at least six months ago, which you will use when submitting the initial authorization request
- Complete Part E of Form T183, Information Return for Electronic Filing of an Individual’s Income Tax and Benefit Return, and select the NOA option
Note
When your client selects the option to have their NOA or NOR made available electronically to you by completing Part E of Form T183, the CRA will not send you or your client a paper copy of the notice.
NOA in tax software does not show your payment
If you have to make a payment around the same time that you electronically file your tax return, your payment may not show up on your notice at that time. To confirm any payments made to the CRA, you can check your online banking portal, sign in to your CRA account, or call the Individual Tax Account Balance Automated Service for your account balance.
