What's new for 2002?

The rates used to calculate your territorial income tax have been reduced.

The applicable rates for the dividend tax credit, overseas employment tax credit, and minimum tax carry-over have been revised.

Form YT428, Yukon Tax , reflects these changes.

Yukon Child Benefit

The Yukon Child Benefit (YCB) is a non-taxable monthly payment to help low- and modest-income families with the cost of raising children under age 18. Benefits are combined with the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) into a single monthly payment.

Under the YCB, you may be entitled to get a benefit of $25 per month for each child. Families with net income above $16,700 may get part of the benefit.

You do not have to apply separately to get payments under this program. We will use the information from the CCTB application to determine your eligibility for the program.

File your tax return - You (and your spouse or common-law partner) should file your 2002 tax return(s) as soon as possible. The information you (and your spouse or common-law partner) give on your return(s) will determine how much you will get starting in July 2003.

This program is funded by Yukon with a contribution from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada on behalf of status Indian children. For more information, call 1-800-387-1193.

Did you reside on Yukon First Nations settlement land?
