What income do I report on my taxes?

When you do your taxes you need to report all types of income. Here are some examples:

Report it

  • I work a part-time job.
  • I receive money through stocks.
  • I make a little extra cash walking dogs.
  • I receive social assistance payments.
  • I earn income driving for a ride-share service.

Don’t report it

  • I won some lottery money.
  • I was given money for my birthday.
  • I get GST/HST credit and Canada child benefit payments.

What if I didn’t have any income this year?

You should still do your taxes to take advantage of any eligible credits and benefits!
