Petroleum Refinery Liquid Effluent Regulations (C.R.C., c. 828)
About this regulation
These regulations aim to reduce the threats to fish and their habitat, and to human health from fish consumption. They decrease the level of harmful substances from petroleum refineries deposited into waters frequented by fish. Refineries must respect the limits on oil and grease, phenols, sulfide, ammonia nitrogen, total suspended matter, and pH of their liquid effluents.
