ArriveCAN: What you need before you start
Mobile app requirements
To download, install or update the app, you'll need either:
- an Apple device running iOS 12 or above
- enable automatic app updates: go to Settings > App Store > on the next screen, make sure the toggle next to App Updates is set to “on”
- an Android device running OS 6 or above
- enable “auto update” for this app in Google Play Store
- you may get a notification that asks whether you accept the new permissions
You can use the app in airplane mode, but you'll need an internet connection to submit your information.
If you do not enable auto-update on your mobile device, make sure you have the latest version of the app before you use it.
Web app access
Create an account or sign in to the web version of ArriveCAN. You can use any personal or public device to do so, including:
- desktop computers
The web version of ArriveCAN works on recent versions of all web browsers. To submit your information, you will need access to the internet.
When app updates become available, the web version updates automatically.
ArriveCAN meets all Government of Canada accessibility and W3C WCAG 2.1 AA standards. It supports the use of assistive devices such as screen readers and magnifiers. If you have accessibility needs, you should use the web version of ArriveCAN.
Travel identity document
To create your traveller profile, you will need one of two official documents that will confirm your identity:
- permanent resident card
The ArriveCAN app can use your mobile device’s camera to capture and upload your passport information directly to your traveller profile. You may also enter the information from a passport or resident card manually.
ArriveCAN doesn't keep an image of your travel document. Consult our privacy notice for more information.
