Digital Access to Heritage — Museums Assistance Program
Labour disruptions impact at Canadian Heritage
The Government of Canada and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) have reached a tentative agreement, ending the strike affecting many public service members. There may still be some service impacts over the next few weeks.
The Digital Access to Heritage component of the Museums Assistance Program (MAP) provides funding to heritage organizations to digitize collections, develop digital content and build their capacity in these areas.
Who can apply
Applicants must meet the criteria in 1 of the 4 categories:
1. An Indigenous governing body or an Indigenous organization with a mandate to preserve and support Indigenous heritage
OR
2. An incorporated non-profit Canadian museumFootnote 1 which:
- provides services to the public year-round
- employs the equivalent of 1 full-time paid professional staff
- has policies for key museum functions
- has a current 3 to 5-year strategic/business plan
OR
3. An incorporated non-profit Canadian museum* that does not have a permanent physical space which:
- provides services and/or programming to the public year-round, in person and/or online
- has been in continuous operation for at least 2 years
- employs the equivalent of 1 full-time paid professional staff
- has policies for relevant museum functions
- has a current 3 to 5-year strategic/business plan
OR
4. A museums association or an incorporated non-profit Canadian service organization whose membership relates to the museum sector which:
- provides services to the public year-round
- employs the equivalent of 1 full-time paid professional staff
- has a current 3 to 5-year strategic/business plan
Application deadlines
The final application deadline is September 1, 2022
For projects taking place between September 1, 2022, and March 31, 2024
How to apply
Applicants are required to:
- review the Application Guidelines for 2022-2023 — Digital Access to Heritage
- contact the nearest regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage to discuss their project and request an application package
- complete and submit an application package
