How it works
Whether it be a hackathon, a pitch event in front of military experts, or an amazing race, Contests will bring you face-to-face with the competition. We put your ideas in the spotlight to help find solutions to defence and security challenges, with cash prizes for the best solutions.
What are we looking for?
IDEaS is looking for innovative designs, concepts and prototypes to face off in a number of contest formats. Depending on the challenge, Contests could entertain solutions at various Technology readiness levels. (Learn more about TRLs)
What do innovators get?
A chance at cash prizes to continue your research, as well as bragging rights for being the best of the best.
How much funding is available?
Funding will be contest-specific. As an example, our most recent contest had a total prize pool of $3.5 million for the winner. However, each of the four rounds had cash prizes to help selected innovators in developing their concepts resulting in an integrated solution.
Who can apply?
Contests is only open to Canadians and excludes Federal government departments/agencies and federal and provincial Crown Corporations and their employees.
