A theatre-level battle honour awarded to historical units that saw active service during the War of 1812 and directly to certain current units in commemoration of historical British Army units that also saw active service during the war.Footnote 1
Description
This Government of Canada battle honour for the War of 1812 was proposed in view of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the war and the service of the historical units raised in the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland for the war. This honour commemorates those historical units that participated in a successful engagement during their period of active service.Footnote 2
