Access to Information and Privacy - ESDC
The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Division is responsible for the administration of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act throughout the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) portfolio, including Service Canada and the Labour Program.
Before you submit an Access to Information or Privacy request, make sure you're looking for your information in the right place.

Submit a request
If the information you are seeking is not available in your My Service Canada Account or your CRA My Account, you may submit an Access to Information or Privacy request. Here’s how:
Requests for records held by ESDC should be submitted under the Access to Information Act and must be accompanied by a $5.00 application fee. Requests to access personal information about individuals, including your own, held by the department should be submitted under the Privacy Act. Please note that there are no fees for submitting Privacy Act requests.
Whether your request is submitted pursuant to the Privacy Act or the Access to Information Act, your request should clearly indicate the type of record(s) you are seeking and include timeframes where possible. Please note that these requests have a legislated 30 day service standard and may require an extension depending on the request submitted. Be specific and include all relevant information. This will assist the Department in locating the appropriate records.
Completed Access to Information requests
ESDC posts a list of completed access to information requests online. All requests related to ESDC, Service Canada, Labour, and the Canada Employment Insurance Commission are processed by ESDC and are included in these statistics.
