Reaction products of 2-propanone with diphenylamine (PREPOD): pollution prevention planning notice
This notice applies to any person who, on the date of publication of the notice or any time thereafter, owns or operates an industrial facility that:
- is in the chemical manufacturing or rubber products manufacturing sectors
- releases an industrial effluent at one or more of its final points of discharge
- manufactures or uses greater than 100 kg of reaction products of 2-propanone with diphenylamine (PREPOD) either alone or in a mixture or compound containing PREPOD in one calendar year

Deadlines
If you became subject to the notice before January 1, 2020, you must:
- prepare a pollution prevention plan by July 1, 2021, and submit a report (schedule 1) by July 31, 2021
- submit an interim report (schedule 4) by July 1, 2022; you might be required to submit one or multiple additional progress report(s) if you are granted a time extension to implement the pollution prevention plan
- implement the pollution prevention plan by July 1, 2023, and submit a report (schedule 5) by July 31, 2023
If you became subject to the notice on or after January 1, 2020, you must:
- prepare a pollution prevention plan within 18 months from the date you became subject to the notice and then submit a report (schedule 1) within 30 days following the end of the 18-month period
- submit an interim report within 30 months from the date you became subject to the notice; you might be required to submit one or multiple additional progress report(s) if you are granted a time extension to implement the pollution prevention plan
- implement the pollution prevention plan within 42 months from the date you became subject to the notice and then submit a report (schedule 5) no later than 30 days following the end of the 42-month period
Reporting
You must complete and submit reports by the deadlines detailed above.
Performance results
Parts of submitted reports, as well as a summary of the results of the notice, will be made publically available to allow the general public to review performance in relation to the notice objective.
