Overview of the directive
The Biosafety Directive for New and Emerging Influenza A Viruses (Alphainfluenzavirus influenzae) provides a comprehensive overview of the appropriate containment levels and additional operational practices for the handling of samples that may, are suspected to or are confirmed to contain a new or emerging strain of influenza A virus. This Directive has been revised to align its requirements and recommendations with updated content from the Canadian Biosafety Standard, Third Edition (CBS). This Directive is to be used in conjunction with the CBS.
