Welcome page for CRA account
Introducing a new way to get access to your CRA accounts
The CRA has introduced a new single sign-in for you to access all your CRA accounts from one sign-in page using one sign-in credential. After signing in, you are brought to the new CRA account welcome page.
The Welcome page displays a panel for each account you have connected to your social insurance number (SIN), for example, your My Account, default My Business Account and Represent a Client.
To access an account, simply select the account panel and you will be brought to your overview page. To access your additional business accounts, select your default business account panel and you will be brought to your default business account overview page. In the top left corner, you still have the ability to move to your other business accounts.
Features on the Welcome page
- What’s new – any important updates or changes you need to know
- Add account – register a business, add a business number to your profile, register yourself or business as a representative or add a repID to your profile
- Mail icons – select the mail icon in each panel to go directly to your mail for that account. For your business account and personal account, there will be an indicator to show if you have unread mail
- Security settings – manage your CRA user ID and password, personal identification number (PIN) and multi-factor authentication settings
Business Registration
To register for a new business number, and add your new business number to your CRA account, follow this process;
- Get your business number:
- Select Add account from the Welcome page
- Select Business account, then Business Registration Online. This will log you out of your CRA account and take you through the process to register for a business number
- Once the business registration process is complete, you will need to sign back into your CRA account
- Add My Business Account:
Your new BN will not automatically appear in your CRA account. You must add your BN to your CRA account before you can access your business information and your GST/HST account details online
- Note: Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) must be on file with the CRA before you can add your BN to your CRA account.
Add My Business number:
- Sign in to your CRA account
- From the “Welcome” page, select +Add account, then Business Account
- Select Add existing business number (BN)
- Read and accept the My Business Account Terms and Conditions
- Enter your newly created 9-digit business number, then select Submit
If your SIN is linked to your BN, you’ll receive confirmation that your BN has been added to your CRA account. You can then return to the Welcome page and select Business account to access My Business Account.
If your SIN was not linked to your BN during registration for any reason, you can add it using one of the methods outlined on Access your business information online.
