The Client Portal for SR&ED tax incentives is a secure, self-service space within My Business Account, designed to help you prepare your claim.
It has useful features to assist you during every step of the SR&ED claim process, including:
How to access the SR&ED client portal
You can access the portal through My Business Account.
If you already have an account, you don’t need to register again. Simply use the following steps:
- Sign in to My Business Account
- Select “Corporate Income Tax” located on the left menu
- Select your RC account
- Click on the “SR&ED” tab
For more information, or to register for an account, go to About My Business Account. For help, go to Help with using your CRA account.
Pre-claim workbook
The client portal’s pre-claim workbook can help you compile the information you need to complete Form T661, Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Expenditures Claim.
Step-by-step instructions and prompts in the workbook help you prepare your project descriptions and easily calculate your expenditures.
The pre-claim workbook also allows you to:
- Save your progress, and return at a later time
- Work on up to three projects per tax year
- Upload supporting documents for later use
Self-Assessment and Learning Tool (SALT)
Within the client portal, you can access an exclusive version of the SALT, which allows you to save and retrieve an in-progress or completed self-assessment.
The SALT can help you determine if your work may be eligible for SR&ED tax incentives and estimate the amount of investment tax credits you could receive.

Through the client portal, you can track the status of a service, get information on processing times, and better understand what to expect after you submit your claim.
