Appointing a representative to your account
Representatives to your account
There are different types of representatives that you can add to your account. Some representatives can make decisions for you, while others can only communicate with us on your behalf.
Legal representatives
At some point, you may want support with legal or financial decisions. This can happen for many reasons and at any stage of life.
If you need help on how to add someone to make decisions for you for a specific pension or benefit, contact us or visit a Service Canada Centre.
Representatives with consent to communicate with Service Canada
If you only want your representative to communicate with Service Canada and not make decisions on your account, you must give them permission. You can do this in two ways:
- through your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) or;
- print and fill out the Consent to Communicate Information to an Authorized Person (ISP1603) and mail it to us, or bring it to a Service Canada Centre
This consent form does not allow the person helping you to:
- submit an application
- apply for benefits for you
- change your payment address
- request or change the withholding of tax for you
