President’s Message

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to present the 2017 to 2018 Fees Report. The report consolidates fee information from across the Government of Canada for the 2017-18 fiscal year. It is part of a new reporting regime introduced in the Service Fees Act, which came into force in June 2017 .

The new reporting system requires all departments and agencies that charge fees to prepare, for Parliament and Canadians, an annual report that provides detailed listings of their current and future fees. Starting next year, as departments and agencies transition to the newsystem, they will be required to include more information, like service standards related to their fees.

The 2017 to 2018 Fees Report contains links to departments’ and agencies’ reports, bringing all the information together in one location. These reports demonstrate the government’s commitment to being accountable, open and transparent when reporting on fees. In the coming years, we will include more comprehensive, government-wide analyses of fees.

I welcome the increased transparency and oversight this annual Fees Report provides, and the Treasury Board Secretariat will continue to support the transition to a modern system of reporting to Canadians on service fees.

Links to Departmental Fees Reports 2017-2018

Listed below are the links to the Departmental Fees Reports for the 2017 to 2018 fiscal year. Each report contains information on Departmental Fee categories, including:

• the name of the fee category;
• the date that the fee (or fee category) was introduced and last amended (if applicable);
• service standards;
• performance results against these standards; and
• financial information regarding total costs, total revenues and remissions.

In addition to the information presented by fee category, each report provides a listing of individual fees under the department’s authority. This listing includes the existing fee dollar amount and the adjusted dollar fee amount for a future year.
