What to expect

Canada Life will complete positive enrolment on your behalf

The new contract with Canada Life requires mandatory positive enrolment.

You may have already completed positive enrolment for the Public Service Health Care Plan but benefit plans under the Government of Canada are separate and governed by different rules.

As such, positive enrolment must be completed and maintained separately on all benefit plans. To facilitate the member experience, Canada Life will be completing positive enrolment for as many PDSP members as possible.

Canada Life will be sending you either an email or mail confirmation notice between mid-August and early September asking you to update (if needed) and validate your personal information. If you wish to have your dental claim payments deposited directly into your bank account, you must provide Canada Life with your banking information during the validation process. For your security, banking information could not be pulled from other sources.

The electronic confirmation notice will include steps to access your new PDSP benefit card and plan number. The paper confirmation notice will include a paper PDSP benefit card.

If you are a current PDSP member or became a new member of the PDSP on or after July 18, 2024, and do not receive a confirmation notice from Canada Life by early September, this means that Canada Life could not complete positive enrolment on your behalf. You will need to complete positive enrolment on your own.

How current and new PDSP members can complete positive enrolment

You will need your certificate number to complete positive enrolment. Your certificate number can be found in your Annual Pension Statement or from the Pension Centre or your pension office.

What’s next
