Canada Disability Benefit
Important: Filing your tax return is required
Starting in June, Service Canada will review clients’ information to confirm they are still eligible and entitled to receive CDB payments in 2026-2027. Current CDB clients must file their tax return before the April 30 deadline to ensure they remain eligible and receive accurate payments without interruptions.
Disruption of Canada Post services – strike paused
Canada Post operations have resumed. Tentative agreements have been reached, and Canada Post and its union have agreed not to engage in any strike or lockout activity until the ratification process is complete. Consult the measures in place during a disruption of Canada Post services.
The Canada Disability Benefit provides direct financial support to people with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old. The program is administered by Service Canada.
The first month of eligibility for the Canada Disability Benefit is June 2025. Payments began in July 2025.
If you qualify for payments, you will begin receiving payments the month after your application is received and approved. You may receive back payments for up to 24 months from when we get your application, but not for any previous months of eligibility prior to June 2025.
Your first payment will be on the third Thursday of the month following your approval and will include back payments if applicable.
