How the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) affects Employment Insurance benefits

You may receive EI benefits as an apprentice if you:

  • have worked between 420 and 700 hours; and
  • meet all the eligibility requirements to make a claim.

The AIG payments are not considered employment earnings. It does not affect your Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. You do not need to include the grant in your EI reports.
