Wage Earner Protection Program for trustees or receivers: Trustee/receiver payment

7. Trustee/receiver payment

The Wage Earner Protection Program Act sets out a payment mechanism to assist in offsetting the costs of administering the WEPP for insolvency professionals. This mechanism helps:

  • reimburse trustees/receivers who complete their WEPP duties, and
  • compensate the cost of administering the WEPP where no assets are left in the bankruptcy estate

To help offset the costs of administering the WEPP for insolvency professionals, the eligibility criteria for trustee payment have been simplified and the maximum payment amounts have been increased.

  • For bankruptcies that occur prior to November 20, 2021, complete the Application guide for payment of trustee/receiver claim fees and expenses (PDF)
  • For bankruptcies that occur on November 20, 2021 or after, complete the Trustee claim form and guide (PDF)
    • Note: As per section 19 of the Regulations, for this application, payments will be adjusted each calendar year, starting in calendar year 2022 using Statistics Canada’s Consumer Price Index. Each year payment amounts will be rounded to the nearest dollar for the set-up fee and for each submission of TIF, and to the nearest $500 increment for the calculation and payment for broader estate administration

For more information on this payment, please contact the WEPP information line at 1-866-683-6516 (TTY: 1-800-926-9105).

The hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday to Friday.
