Wage Earner Protection Program for trustees or receivers: Proof of claim
4. Proof of claim
Pursuant to the Wage Earner Protection Program Regulations, you are required to inform individuals of their obligation to file a Proof of Claim. You are also required to confirm receipt of the Proof of Claim on the Trustee/Receiver Information Form.
The confirmation of the Proof of Claim by the trustee/receiver is required before a WEPP payment can be issued.
If you receive a Proof of Claim after you have already submitted a Trustee/Receiver Information Form, an amendment to the Proof of Claim is required. When Service Canada receives the amended Trustee/Receiver Information Form, the individual's eligibility will be reexamined.
The Government of Canada will not file a Proof of Claim with trustees/receivers for its subrogated claim, as the Proof of Claim filed by the applicant is sufficient.
Note: Trustees/receivers are not required to send a copy of the Proof of Claim to Service Canada.
