Apply online to immigrate to Canada

You can now apply for some permanent immigration programs online. When you apply online, you can

• submit your permanent residence application securely
• upload supporting documents and forms
• confirm you successfully submitted your application

How it works

By applying online, you can

• fill out parts of your application digitally
• safely upload the other forms and supporting documents you need for your program and category
• resubmit your application electronically if it’s returned as incomplete

You can use your account to submit an application for you and any family members coming with you. It’s separate from your IRCC secure account, which you can use to check your application status once we start processing it.

Uploading and submitting supporting documents

Before uploading and submitting supporting documents, make sure

• you properly label them
• copies are legible
• you only upload the number of documents in the checklist
• you verify photo requirements before submitting photos

Returning incomplete applications

Once we review your application, if it’s not complete, we’ll

• send you an e-mail notification confirming
  • your application is incomplete
  • which documents were incomplete or missing

Resubmitting your application if it was found incomplete

If we return your application, you can submit a new one the same way you sent the original. You’ll be able to see all the information you originally included.

Review your application and include

• the fully completed forms
• all required supporting documents

We won’t keep any of the documents you sent before. You need to include all documents, not just the ones that were missing.

Other important information

• If you can’t apply online due to accessibility issues or special needs, you can still apply on paper.
• A representative can’t access the portal on your behalf. If you use a representative, they can still help you with your application, but don’t share your login credentials with anyone.

Reset a password

When you create your account, we’ll send you a verification code that is valid for 60 minutes. If this code expires, or you forget a password, you can ask us to send you another code.

It’s best to use a desktop computer or PC to apply, but you can still use a mobile device.
