Work permits for Quebec skilled workers who applied for the Programme de sélection des travailleurs qualifiés
You may be eligible for an employer-specific work permit if you were invited to apply for permanent selection under the Programme de sélection des travailleurs qualifiés (PSTQ) and you submitted a demande de sélection permanente to Quebec.
This work permit lets you keep working for your employer in Quebec for up to 12 months.

Who’s eligible
To be eligible for this work permit, you must meet all of the requirements:
- You were invited to apply for permanent selection under the PSTQ.
- You submitted your demande de sélection permanente to Quebec.
- You’re in one of the following situations:
- You have a valid employer-specific work permit that expires on or before December 31, 2026.
- You had an employer-specific work permit that expired but you applied to extend it before the expiry date.
- You have an employer-specific work permit that expired between March 13, 2026 and December 31, 2026. You didn’t apply to extend it, and now you’re out of status.
- Your work permit is for an employer in Quebec.
- You have a new job offer from the employer that’s listed on your work permit.
- You’ll continue working in Quebec.
Steps before you apply

Your employer must send us an offer of employment using the Employer Portal before you can apply for your work permit.
Your employer does not need to
- get an LMIA to hire you
- pay the $230 employer compliance fee

Get the information and documents you need from your employer.
Your employer needs to give you
- a job offer for a job in Quebec
- the offer of employment number
- After your employer submits an offer of employment, they’ll get the offer of employment number.
- The number starts with the letter “A” and is followed by 7 digits.
- You need this number to apply for your work permit.
- After your employer submits an offer of employment, they’ll get the offer of employment number.

You must apply online for this work permit.

You’re eligible to apply on paper if you
- have a disability that prevents you from applying online
- are applying under the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program
- hold an identity or travel document for non-national residents, refugees or stateless persons

Get your document checklist
Answer the following questions in the online account, exactly as shown, to get the right document checklist:
- When asked “How long are you planning to stay in Canada?” select “Temporarily – more than 6 months.”
- When asked “What is your current immigration status in Canada?” select “Worker.”
- When asked “Do you have a written job offer?” select “Yes.”
- When asked “Which option best describes your work situation?” select “I’m applying for a work permit through an active pilot project or an active Public Policy for work permits announced by IRCC.”

Fill out the form and upload your documents
You need to complete the following form: Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710).
Important: You must type the code PPTR2PRQC2026 in the Job Title field of the IMM 5710 form.
If your work permit expired and you’re applying to restore your status
You can apply to get a work permit and to restore your status using the same form.
In the first section of the form, under question 3, “I am applying for one or more of the following:” make sure you also choose “Restore my status as a worker.”
Documents to upload
In your online account, upload the following documents in the fields indicated below:
- Upload a copy of your job offer or contract to the Offer of Employment field in the Supporting documents section.
- The offer or contract must show that you’re working in Quebec.
- Upload proof that you submitted your demande de sélection permanente under the PSTQ to the Client Information field.
- Upload a copy of your job offer or contract to the Offer of Employment field in the Supporting documents section.

Pay your fees
At the end of your application, we’ll ask you to pay the following fees with a valid credit card or debit card:
- work permit processing fee ($155)
- biometrics fee ($85 per person)—if you need to give biometrics
- restoration fee ($246.25)—if you need to restore your status

Submit a complete application
Once you have completed all the forms, provided all the required documents and paid your fees, submit your application.
