Happy Holidays to all members of the Defence community.

You may be a military member serving or deployed in Canada or overseas. You may be a family member who cannot wish Season’s Greetings in person to a serving spouse, parent, or child. You may be a veteran who remembers past holiday service, and who is concerned for those who now serve. Or you may be a civilian or non-public funds or personnel support employee working diligently in the company of military members at home or abroad during this holiday season.

Whatever your circumstances, I salute you and thank you for your sacrifice.

Your devotion to serving Canada does not stop, and is an example for all Canadians. You know about being away from family and the comforts of home, so that in turn we may enjoy a safe and secure time at home with our families.

As Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, I promise my office stands ready to help you as a member of the Defence community during this holiday season and in the year to come.

Once again, thank you for your devotion to serving our nation.

I wish you all the best this holiday season as well as a safe and happy New Year.
