  • I am honoured to accept the Prime Minister’s call to oversee PrairiesCan and accelerate economic growth in communities across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
  • PrairiesCan is on the ground, focused on developing our natural advantages including critical minerals, value-added agriculture, clean-tech and zero-emission heavy vehicle manufacturing.

  • 22 percent of Canada’s nominal GDP.
  • 34 percent of Canada’s international goods exports ($249B).
    • 82 percent to United States and 5 percent to China.
    • Energy products account for 73% ($149B) of Prairie exports to the U.S.
    • Value of total Prairie Provinces’ exports to United States: $203B.
  • World’s #1 producer of potash, #2 producer of uranium, #4 producer of crude oil.
  • 2024 was fourth consecutive year of record high production of crude oil and equivalent products. (Up 3.9 percent from 2023.)
  • Agricultural landmass the size of Spain.
  • Diversified trade corridor potential.
    • Churchill is Canada’s only northern deepwater port connected to the North American rail transportation grid.
    • Trimodal (air, rail, truck) inland ports include YEG in Edmonton and CentrePort in Winnipeg.
