Description of the objective:
The purpose of the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act (HPTA) is to establish a safety and security regime to protect the health and safety of the public against the risks posed by human pathogens and toxins. To establish such a regime, a program and regulatory framework must be developed for the HPTA respecting matters such as licensing and security clearances for high risk pathogens.

Public consultation opportunities:
Canadians, interested, and affected parties will be consulted at various stages of the development of the HPTA program and regulatory framework.
