How to pay the amount you owe
Make a payment for yourself, on behalf of someone else, or for a business by visiting a Canada Post retail location with your CRA QR code.
Make your payment
You will need a QR code that contains information that allows the CRA to credit your account.
The CRA includes QR codes on various individual and business remittance vouchers. If your remittance voucher does not have a QR code, you will need to generate one.
Protect your QR code because it contains your name and social insurance number.
Canada Post uses PaySimply, a third-party service provider to process the QR code. A sample QR code looks like this:
How to generate a QR code
You can create a personalized QR code for your payment by using My Account, My Business Account, or PaySimply.

How to pay at Canada Post
- Bring the QR code on your phone or on paper to any Canada Post retail location.
Find your nearest Canada Post location - The clerk will scan your QR code and ask you how much you want to pay. The clerk will add a service fee to your payment and accept payment by cash or debit card.
- The clerk will give you a receipt with the amount you paid and a reference number for your files.
- If you printed your QR code, protect the personal information it contains by disposing of it securely.
Processing time
- Considered as paid: the same day you made your payment (stamped by the clerk)
- Updated in your CRA account up to 2 business days after the payment is received
You can confirm if we received a payment.
If your payment is not showing after 3 business days, you can resolve a payment issue.
