Make a payment for individuals

During the labour disruption, there may be delays in processing payments made by cheque or in person at financial institutions. The payment deadlines have not changed. Your payment date will be confirmed by the postmark or by the date of payment at a financial institution. Once your payment is processed by the CRA, your account will indicate the accurate date the payment was made.

The CRA considers your payment made on the day it is either processed by a Canadian financial institution or received by the CRA.

Make a payment or schedule future payments to the CRA through your Canadian financial institution

Interac Debit, Visa Debit, or Debit Mastercard (using
CRA My Payment)

Processing times:  Considered paid on same or next business day (varies based on your financial institution)

CRA My Payment is a service that allows you to make online payments directly to the CRA (does not include credit cards)

Pre-authorized debit (PAD)

Processing times: Must be set up at least 5 business days prior to your payment date

Schedule a future payment or payments in My Account to authorize the CRA to withdraw set amounts from your Canadian chequing account

Credit card, debit card, PayPal, or Interac e-Transfer

Processing times: Varies based on service provider

Only available through PaySimply (service fees apply)

Wire transfer

Processing times:  Considered paid on same or next business day (typically 3 business days to process)

For non-residents who need to make a payment to the CRA and do not have a Canadian bank account

Not accepted online

Pay at your Canadian bank, financial institution, or credit union using a printed personalized remittance voucher

Canada Post location (debit or cash)

Processing times:  Considered paid as of the date stamped

Pay at a Canada Post location with a QR code, to apply your payment to the right CRA account (service fees apply)

Pay by mail

Cheque or money order

Processing times:  Considered paid once received by the CRA (allow time for mail delivery)

Mail your remittance voucher with your Canadian cheque or money order payment

Not accepted by mail
