Can I pay CRA directly through my bank or credit union’s website or app?
Yes, you can make a payment or schedule future payment(s) to the CRA directly by logging in to the online banking site or mobile banking app of most Canadian banks or credit unions.

Options and services available to you depend on your bank or credit union and on the banking package you have. Check the details with your bank or credit union.
Can I pay the CRA using a credit card?
Yes, for a service fee, third-party service providers offer payments by credit card and can send your payment and remittance details online to the CRA for you.
The CRA does not accept payments directly by credit card (Canadian or international).

Can I pay the CRA using my debit card?
Yes, you can make payments to the CRA using your debit card.
- With a Visa or Mastercard logo from a participating bank or credit union through the CRA's electronic service called My Payment. For more information and conditions of use, go to: Pay with a debit card through the CRA's My Payment service - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca.

How can I set-up pre-authorized debit to pay the CRA?
You can create a pre-authorized debit (PAD) agreement in your CRA Account. Your selected first payment date must be at least 5 business days from the date you create your PAD agreement.
Businesses can use pre-authorized debit through GST/HST Netfile to pay a balance due.
Individuals can authorize their EFILER (electronic filer) to set up a PAD agreement on their behalf to make a one-time payment.

Do I need a remittance voucher to make a payment to the CRA?
You do not need a remittance voucher to pay using:
- Online banking- Pay online with your bank or credit union - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca
- Pre-authorized debit- Pay by scheduled pre-authorized debit (PAD) through the CRA online services - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca
- Visa debit or debit Mastercard through CRA’s My Payment service- Pay with a debit card through the CRA's My Payment service - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca
- Third party providers (for a fee)- Pay through a third-party service provider - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca.
You do need a remittance voucher when paying at the counter (teller) at a bank or credit union in order for the payment to be applied to your CRA account correctly.
Banks and credit unions do not accept photocopies of remittance vouchers.
If you do not have one, and the payment cannot be made electronically, order or print a remittance voucher or a payment form.
If you are paying by sending a cheque through the mail, you should include your remittance voucher in the envelope to apply your payment as you intend.
If you do not have one, you can:
- Include a copy of the notice you received requesting payment; or
- Write your full CRA account number and payment details in the memo field of your cheque or on a separate piece of paper
How can I pay the CRA using my online banking? How do I add the CRA as a payee?
To pay the CRA using online banking, you must sign in to your personal or business bank or credit union's online banking service. Make sure you select the correct option under "add a payee" in order for the CRA to apply your payment correctly. Examples of common payee options are provided at Step 03 under Make your payment on the Pay online with your bank or credit union - Payments to the CRA - Canada.ca
How can I pay the CRA using third-party services?
Third-party service providers offer payments by credit card, debit card, or Interac® e-Transfer and can send your payment and remittance details online to the CRA for you for a service fee. Different service providers offer different payment methods.

I experienced technical issues when trying to pay the CRA. How can I be sure my payment went through?
Before checking to see if the CRA has received a payment you sent, allow:
- 5 business days for online payments
- 10 business days (plus mailing time) for payments by cheque or money order

Can I change my payment amounts?
The option to change your payment amount depends on the payment method you use. For example, if you created a pre-authorized debit (PAD) using CRA’s online service, you can modify, cancel or skip a payment, however it must be done at least 5 business days before the scheduled payment date.
