Information about you section is highlighted
Some fields in the Information about you section are defaulted to No. Ensure that you go over these questions with the individual and adjust the answers as required.
Note that the language of correspondence you select for the statement Language of correspondence and of tax return will determine the language in which the tax returns will be printed or transmitted to the CRA and to Revenu Québec. This selection will also determine the language the CRA will use when sending correspondence to the individual.
UFile tip
Note that the language you select within this section does not affect the language used in the software as you complete the tax returns.
To the question Did you own foreign property in 2024 with a total cost over CAN$100,000?, if the individual confirms that they owned foreign property with a total cost exceeding CAN$100,000 and the individual is not a newcomer, you should not prepare their tax returns because this is no longer a simple tax situation in accordance with the Income Tax Assistance – Volunteer Program (ITAVP).

Under the Elections Canada section, if you select Yes to the question Do you have Canadian citizenship?, an additional question will appear and you will need to confirm whether the individual authorizes the CRA to share their information with Elections Canada.
Under the Email notifications from CRA section, you must also confirm whether the individual agrees to receive their notices of assessment and notices of reassessment through the CRA online service My Account for Individuals. If the answer is Yes, enter the taxpayer's email address and read the terms and conditions to them.

Revenu Québec questions topic is highlighted
The questions on the Revenu Québec questions page relate mainly to the Quebec income tax return. Be sure to review these questions with the individual and to adjust the answers if necessary. Additional topics will be added in the left-side menu, and certain credits will be calculated automatically based on the answers to these questions.
- Are you eligible for the Quebec amount for a person living alone? For more information, refer to the Amount for a person living alone and Additional amount for a person living alone section.
- Do you wish to request an accelerated refund on your Quebec return? We recommend that you answer No to prevent possible overpayments to the individual.
- If the individual answered Yes to the question Did you receive, hold or dispose of cryptoassets (by selling, transferring, exchanging, giving, etc.)?, you must not prepare the tax returns because it is not a simple tax situation for the income tax assistance program.
- Do you wish to apply for the Quebec solidarity tax credit?

Quebec prescription drug insurance information page
Specify the situation that applied to you in 2023 for the purpose of the Quebec prescription drug insurance: is highlighted
The drop-down menu is highlighted:
1- Your own group insurance plan, all year
2- Group insurance plan of spouse or a parent, all year
3- Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year
4- Exceptions, Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year
5- Exceptions, Québec prescription drug insurance plan, part of the year
On the page Quebec prescription drug insurance information, indicate whether the individual is covered by a group insurance plan (private) or by the Quebec prescription drug insurance plan (public).
If they are covered by the public plan, you must specify whether they are exempt from paying all or part of the premium.
Please note that it is possible, on this page, to indicate whether the individual wishes to pay their spouse’s contributions to the Quebec Prescription Drug Insurance Plan.

Solidarity tax credit

Schedule D – Quebec solidarity tax credit page
The Solidarity tax credit topic will appear in the left-side menu if you answered Yes to Do you wish to apply for the Quebec solidarity tax credit? in the Revenu Québec Questions.
Revenu Québec will use the information entered on this page to determine if the individual is entitled to this credit. Subsequently, Revenu Québec will calculate and pay the individual the amount to which they are entitled.

Electronic filing – EFILE page
On the Electronic filing - EFILE page, indicate whether you will use the CRA’s Auto-fill my return service and the EFILE and NetFile Québec electronic filing services.
CRA's Auto-fill my return
Auto-fill my return is an optional secure CRA service that allows you to automatically fill in parts of a federal tax return.
If you answer Yes to the question Will you be using the CRA Auto-fill my return service for this taxpayer?, an additional question will appear asking you if you have already filed the Authorization request for the individual.

EFILE
Answer the questions if applicable:
Will you be using EFILE to submit this return to the CRA?
If you are preparing tax returns for a prior year, select Yes to the question Will you be using EFILE to submit a prior year federal return, today or within the next two days?
Will you be using EFILE to submit this TP1 return to Revenu Québec?

Revenu Quebec tax data download page
The Tax Data Download (TDD) service is a secure Revenu Québec service that allows you to automatically fill in parts of the Quebec income tax return. It can be used to access information that Revenu Québec has about an individual when you complete their Quebec income tax return.
Before using the service, you must obtain the individual’s consent using the appropriate form or obtain their download code.
If you tick Yes, Use Tax data download in this file, two additional topics will be automatically added in the left-side menu: Download my information and Accept my information.
