Applicants to the Canadian Armed Forces

If you are a current or former applicant to the Canadian Armed Forces, we have answers to common questions about the application process and what services are available to you. If you don’t find information specific to your situation, contact us.

  • I want to join the Canadian Armed Forces. How do I apply?

The Joining the Canadian Armed Forces website has information on entry options, positions, the enrollment process, and basic training. In particular, take a look at the questions that deal with eligibility, starting your career and life in the Forces.

Review the requirements on the Canadian Armed Forces – Apply Now website. Their web page on Careers has information on the various occupations available in the Forces.

You can complete an online application, or visit your local Recruiting Centre. Throughout the application process, you can ask questions through Facebook or by talking to your local recruiter. The recruiter can tell you more about the application process, and what you can expect in a career in Canadian Armed Forces.

You and your family may also contact our office if you have questions about the process.

  • Will my previous training, education, and/or experience be recognized?

The Canadian Armed Forces uses a Prior Learning Assessment to evaluate any previous training and education. This may reduce your time in training.

Consult the Recognition of education and training page, and discuss it with your recruiter.

  • I have applied to join the Canadian Armed Forces. Now I need to revise my application, schedule or reschedule an appointment, or ask about a general concern or application issue. What should I do?

On the Recruiting Contact page, you can make a recruitment inquiry by selecting the category that best fits your needs.

  • I have applied to join the Regular Force, but I am experiencing delays in the processing of my file. What should I do?

Review the enrollment process steps described at the Joining the Canadian Armed Forces website. Throughout the process, be sure to keep a record of which steps you have completed to date.

If you still think the processing of your application has been delayed, submit a recruitment inquiry through the Recruiting Contact page. You can also request more information from the recruiter at your local Recruiting Centre.

If you are still unsatisfied with the response, you can raise your concerns with the commanding officer of your local Recruiting Centre. If possible, request all communications in writing.
