Eligible inventory categories
The following are eligible under the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program:
- Assault-style firearms that are complete and assembled
- Devices: upper receivers of the M16, M4, AR-10 and AR-15 platforms, assembled or stripped
- Certain eligible parts and components of assault-style firearms including bolts, triggers and barrels
Detailed lists with compensation amounts
Find all firearms and devices prohibited in May 2020, December 2024 or March 2025, as well as associated parts and components eligible under the program that you can declare. Compensation amounts for firearms are for fully assembled firearms. Lower receivers turned in by businesses will be compensated at a flat rate of $480 when the value of the fully assembled firearm is $480 or more. If the value is less than $480, the compensation paid for lower receivers will be equal to the fully assembled firearm. All compensation amounts are final.

Participating in the program is voluntary, however businesses (except those with required registration certificates and specific privileges on their licence) must dispose of or permanently deactivate their assault-style firearms before the amnesty period expires on October 30, 2026, or risk criminal liability for the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm.
