Register for a CRA account
Registering for a CRA account allows you to access and change your tax information with the CRA. You only need to register one time to access your personal, business, and other accounts.
If you have a CRA account
If you have already registered for My Account, My Business Account or Represent a Client using a CRA user ID and password or a Sign-In Partner, you should sign in with your existing credential.
If you don't see your business, representative, or other accounts when you sign in, find out how to add your other accounts.
Change the option you sign in with
If you registered with a provincial partner, you can also create a CRA user ID and password or use a Sign-In Partner by going through the registration process and choosing a second sign-in option. If you used an Alberta.ca Account, you will need to access your existing multi-factor authentication (MFA) option.
If you can still sign in
If you registered with a CRA user ID and password, you can sign in and change your existing CRA user ID and password. If you want to register with a Sign-In Partner instead, you will have to go through the registration process again using your existing MFA option.
If you registered with a Sign-In Partner, you can sign in with your current Sign-In Partner and switch to a different Sign-In Partner. If you want to register with a CRA user ID and password instead, you will have to go through the registration process again using your existing MFA option.
If you cannot sign in
You may be able to go through the registration process again to change your sign-in method or regain access to your CRA account.
If you can't access your account
If you lost access to your CRA account, going through the registration process again may help you get your access back.
If your multi-factor authentication (MFA) is unavailable
You must have access to your existing MFA information to regain access to your account. If you don't, contact us.
Regain access to your CRA account
You may be able to regain access to your CRA account with new sign-in information (a new credential) if:
- You forgot your CRA user ID or password
- You forgot the answers to your security questions
- Your online banking information changed
- Your credential was revoked
You will need to be able to:
- Use any existing MFA option you previously chose
- Complete the registration process, including identity verification
Any previous CRA user IDs and passwords or Sign-In Partners linked to your CRA account will be removed. Provincial partner credentials will not be removed by this process.
If you have forgotten your CRA user ID or password and do not want to register with a new credential, refer to Lost or forgotten CRA user ID or password.
You cannot go through the registration process to get back into your account if your account has been locked by the CRA for security or other reasons.
If you have tried to register again and still cannot access your account, contact us.
