What is a T5018 Summary

The T5018 Summary (T5018SUM) represents the total of the information reported on all of the T5018 slips you prepared for each recipient for the calendar year.
You can get a Form T5018 SUM in a PDF or PDF fillable/saveable format to file on paper.
What to report
- Report all amounts in Canadian dollars, even if they were paid in another currency. Learn more about the average exchange rates: Exchange rates
- Fill out a separate T5018 Summary for each of your payroll accounts. The totals you report on your T5018 Summary have to agree with the totals of all amounts you reported on your T5018 slips for that payroll account
- If you have no amounts to report on a T5018 slip or summary, there is no need to send either form to the CRA
- Do not change your address using the T5018 summary. Learn more about making changes: Make changes to your account
What is required if the T5018 is not issued
If you did not fill out a T5018, you must send the CRA:
- A listing or printout of all payments you made to subcontractors. You must provide the information on a line by line basis, in column format with all the information required on the T5018 slip
- A listing or printout of all the summary information, including the total payments to each of the subcontractors, the total number of subcontractors who received these payments, and the signature of an authorized person who may be contacted regarding the information provided
How to fill out
For the period ending
Enter the date that applies to the calendar or fiscal year end of the reporting period you have chosen.
Payer's program account number
Enter your 15-character account number (for example, 123456789RZ0001).
Payer's information
Enter your legal name, your operating or trading name (if it differs from your legal name), and address.
Language of correspondence
Enter an "X" in the appropriate box.
Line 80 – Total number of T5018 slips filed
Enter the total number of T5018 slips that you are filing with the T5018 Summary.
Line 82 – Total construction subcontractor payments
Add the amounts in box 22 of all T5018 slips. Report the total on line 82.
Person to contact about this return
Enter the name and telephone number of a contact person that the CRA can call to get or clarify information you reported on the T5018 Summary.
Certification
An authorized person must sign and date the T5018 Summary.
