Wage and rent subsidies

As a business, charity, or non-profit in Canada that has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for one or more subsidies to cover part of your wage and rent expenses.

Application deadlines

  • January 27, 2022: Last day to apply for period 18 of the CEWS and CRHP
  • January 27, 2022: Last day to apply for period 11 of the CERS

Upcoming period

  • Claim period 24 will be open for applications in February. Details on the exact date will be available soon.

Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP)

Support for increasing wages to existing employees and wages paid to new hires as business resumes and the economy recovers

Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program (THRP) New

Targeted wage and rent support for eligible businesses, charities, and non-profits in the tourism or hospitality sector or those affected by a qualifying public health restriction

Hardest-Hit Business Recovery Program (HHBRP) New

Targeted wage and rent support for hard-hit eligible businesses, charities, and non-profits outside of tourism or hospitality that have been deeply affected since the start of the pandemic

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

Wage subsidy for eligible employers from March 15, 2020, to October 23, 2021. You may continue to apply for claim periods that are still open.

Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS)

Rent subsidy for eligible businesses, charities, and non-profits from September 27, 2020, to October 23, 2021. You may continue to apply for claim periods that are still open.

Local Lockdown Program New

A way businesses, charities, and non-profits subject to a qualifying public health restriction may be eligible for wage or rent support through the THRP, even if they are not in tourism or hospitality

10% Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers (TWS) Ended

Wage subsidy for eligible employers from March 18, 2020, to June 19, 2020
