IEC participants: Requirements for travel to Canada
Only IEC participants with a Port of Entry Letter of Introduction and a valid job offer are eligible to travel to Canada right now. You must also be able to start your job as soon as you complete your quarantine. Check the start date on your job offer before you travel.

International Experience Canada (IEC) provides youth with the opportunity to travel and work in Canada.
Applying for IEC
Canada has implemented a number of temporary measures, including travel restrictions, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
You can still travel to Canada under IEC if you have a current, valid job offer. Make sure you carefully look at the application process to ensure you
- meet the requirements
- can enter Canada
The pools for the 2021 season will be opening on March 1. See if you’ll be able to submit your profile.
Applications in processing
Applications that are currently in processing will not be closed or refused for
- lack of documentation
- inability to provide biometrics
- inability to complete a medical exam
You have additional time to provide the required documents.
If you submitted a work permit application for the 2020 season but haven’t gotten a decision yet, you can either
- withdraw your application, or
- continue to have it processed
Check the email address that you provided when submitting your application for more instructions.
