Key Partners and Stakeholders
Defence works with a range of partners both within and outside Canada that help support Defence's mission, programs and activities. The broad scope of the Department's mandate is reflected in the complexity and diversity of our partners and stakeholders.
The following is a comprehensive list of Defence's partners and stakeholders:
- Parliamentarians, including the Standing Committee on National Defence and the Standing Committee on Veterans' Affairs, as well as the Senate Standing Committee on National Security and Defence.
- Other Federal Government departments and Central Agencies, particularly the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Canadian International Development Agency, Public Safety Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Industry Canada, the Department of Justice, Canadian Heritage, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Transport Canada, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the Privy Council Office, the Department of Finance, the, Health Canada, Parks Canada, Correctional Services Canada, the Public Service Commission of Canada, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages , Natural Resources Canada and the National Research Council Canada;
- Provincial, territorial and municipal governments;
- Industry stakeholders and Canadian non-governmental organizations and citizens' groups such as the Defence Industry Advisory Committee, the Conference of Defence Associations, the Science and Technology community, the Institute for Research on Public Policy, Canadian International Council, the United Nations Association in Canada, International PeopleSoft Military User Group and the Technical Cooperation Program;
- Unions;
- Homeland/Security/Defence Education Consortium, the Partnership for Peace Programme, and the Canadian academic community and learning organizations;
- Canadian and international media; and
- Representatives of foreign governments and militaries, including the United States (particularly through North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM)) other allies and like-minded countries (through multilateral organizations such as North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU)), service conferences such as the Conference of American Armies (CAA) and intelligence-sharing partners.
