Death of a Civilian Employee
If you are grieving the death of a colleague or employee, remember that there are resources available to you.
Losing a colleague or employee can be difficult. Managers play an important role in supporting you during your time of grief.
Guidelines are available to managers, providing the steps to follow during this difficult time , such as:
- Contacting HR Connect RH at 1-833-747-6363,
- informing the Pay Centre,
- communicating with the family of the deceased to help them take the appropriate measures, and
- providing health-related information to the employee. This can include mental health first aid, information on the Employee Assistance Program and Public Service Health Care Plan.
To learn more on how to support your colleagues, visit the Death of an employee resource (available on the Defence Network only).
