Employment equity in the public service of Canada
Employment equity fosters a diverse and representative public service, which in turn drives innovative ideas, strengthens policy development, enhances competitiveness, and ultimately delivers more effective services and programs for all Canadians.
Under the Employment Equity Act, the Treasury Board is required to report to Parliament annually on the state of employment equity of the four designated employment equity groups (women, Indigenous Peoples, members of visible minorities and persons with disabilities) within the core public administration. This reporting also includes providing information on enterprise-wide initiatives designed to address systemic barriers and foster greater equity, diversity inclusion and accessibility.
