The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is responsible for administering court-imposed sentences of two years or more for adult offenders and supervising offenders on various forms of conditional release in the community.
The funding from the Supplementary Estimates A will help CSC fulfill its commitment to transforming federal corrections.
Key Facts
The Supplementary Estimates "A" total amount for the CSC is $70.1M, or 2.7% of authorities to-date.
CSC is anticipating to receive Treasury Board authority to increase its appropriations by $70.1M for the following increases:
$43.2M of funding for Transforming Federal Corrections: rehabilitative programming, interventions and targeted mental healthcare through the implementation of Structured Intervention Units;
$21.6M increase in the operating budget due to a conversion of personnel budget to other operating budget; and,
$5.3M for statutory appropriations related to Employee Benefit Plans.
CSC is anticipating to receive Treasury Board approval on internal reallocations of resources (net effect $0) for the following transfers:
$4.1M from Capital expenditures (Vote 5) to Operating expenditures, grants and contributions (Vote 1) to adjust authorities to where funding will be required in relation to cloud computing services; and,
$3.0M from Capital expenditures (Vote 5) to Operating expenditures, grants and contributions (Vote 1) to adjust authorities to where funding will be required in relation to the Offender Management System Modernization Project.
