Careers at the CRA – 1. Why work with us
1. Why work with us
This year, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) was named one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada.
We take pride in our employees. We listen to what they have to say, learn what’s important to them, and turn those findings into programs that make this a place where people are happy to come to work. As a result our workforce has higher morale, has become more engaged, and is helping us attract and retain top talent.
Even though we’re a large organization with over 40,000 employees across Canada, working at the CRA is like being part of a community. No matter the distance, our employees are connected from coast to coast. We have supportive networks and mentors, and our employees are encouraged to participate in a variety of team-building activities and give back to their communities throughout the year.
Initiatives such as Positive Space encourage our employees to bring their full selves to work and enhance the employee experience by creating a safer, more tolerant and open-minded work environment.
We offer a variety of apprenticeship and developmental programs for students and new graduates – all designed to offer hands-on work and educational experiences through rotational assignments. Employees are given the opportunity to learn and develop their skills on the job, and excel in their careers, while doing work that matters.
We realize that life doesn’t always follow a 9-5 schedule so our family-friendly policies such as flexible work arrangements, and leave provisions help our employees maintain work-life balance.
We are proud to be named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2018, and remain committed to making the Canada Revenue Agency a great place to work!

“I struggled after university and really had a hard time finding a job... I am so lucky and honoured to be a part of this agency that gave me a chance and realizes the potential in the youth of this country. Times are tough right now and it is hard for young educated people to find jobs, but the Canada Revenue Agency gives me hope for the future.”
“I’ve been really lucky to have awesome managers and directors that truly care about their teams. Our current director makes time to personally go out of her way to say hello to every team member most days, and is humble and always approachable. She has even been known to leave greeting cards for employees to congratulate them on an accomplishment, or give them encouragement about an upcoming deadline. Sometimes it’s the little things like this that make the biggest difference.”
“As an Indigenous person, I have had the joy, freedom and have even been able to celebrate and share my culture with my colleagues. The management team are very respectful, and encourage and support a culture of inclusiveness and diversity. I have been very blessed.”
