Honneur de groupe englobant la « Bataille de la crête de Vimy », la « Première bataille de la Scarpe, 1917 », la « Seconde bataille de la Scarpe, 1917 », la « Bataille d’Arleux » et la « Troisième bataille de la Scarpe », qui est officiellement appelé « Les batailles d’Arras, 1917 » et qui fait lui-même partie de « L’offensive d’Arras (9 avril – 15 mai 1917) »Note de bas de page 1
Description
L’honneur « Arras, 1917 » a été attribué aux unités de l’Empire britannique ayant participé à l’offensive qui a commencé le 9 avril 1917 et aux batailles qui y ont fait suite jusqu’au 4 mai 1917. Trois autres honneurs individuels faisant partie intégrante de l’honneur « Arras » ont été attribués. L’honneur « Vimy 1917 » a été décerné à toutes les unités qui ont pris part, sur le front nord, à l’attaque initiale ayant mené à la prise de l’entité géographique dominante de la crête de Vimy. L’honneur « Arleux » a été attribué pour la prise du village de ce nom par les Britanniques et les Canadiens. Enfin, l’honneur « Scarpe, 1917 » a été remis pour la dernière partie de l’offensive d’Arras qui a permis de refouler les contre-attaques allemandes et de repousser les lignes allemandes plus loin de la région de Fresnoy au début de mai 1917.
