Passport services during the Canada Post labour disruption

We’re still processing applications normally during the labour disruption.

Depending on when you applied and when you need the passport, there are ways for you to get your passport in Canada.

If you applied for a passport from the US or another country or territory, the labour disruption does not impact you.

You already applied and now need your passport urgently

Call us at 1-800-567-6868 (TTY: 1-866-255-7655) or visit us at any Service Canada location to ask for your file to be transferred for pickup.

You must provide proof of travel and may need to pay additional fees.

You already applied and did not pay for pickup service

We’re using an alternate courier to deliver passports. Some delays may occur.

If your passport is stuck in the mail, it will be delivered when the labour disruption ends. If you need your passport urgently, call us at 1-800-567-6868 (TTY: 1-866-255-7655) or visit any Service Canada location.

You already applied and paid for pickup service

Your application isn’t affected by the labour disruption. You can go to the location you applied at on the pickup date and get your passport.

In some cases, you may have been asked to go to a different location to pick up your passport. While some offices can accept express and urgent applications, not all locations offer pickup service or express and urgent processing.

You renewed your passport online

If you submitted your passport renewal online, your application processing will not be impacted by the labour disruption.

We’ll deliver your passport through another courier. Some delays may occur.

You haven’t applied for a passport yet

You can submit your application at a Service Canada location or passport office, or mail us your application by another courier. We’ll deliver your passport through another courier. Some delays may occur.

You can also pay for pickup service at some locations and get your passport there when it’s ready.

Check your application status

If you chose to have your passport mailed to you, you can still check your application status online, get the tracking number and see if it was sent by Canada Post or an alternate courier.
